Well um...

So I've posted some new stuff and some more old stuff. I'm going through...you know one of those periods.... You might call it an "incubation" period or a "transitional phase" whatever it is it's certainly a time of artistic evaluation (read: completely unsellable work). So until the new work has a few ticks to ferment, here is some old work that has just become ripe! I hope you enjoy it, if you do let me know. If you think it blows a goat, I want to hear that too! Lay it on me but don't be too sweet, I am a diabetic after all.

Here's why...

Alright. So I just got back from NAMTA, one of The Art Supply Industry's biggest shows, and something that really stuck out was that there are now alot of people manufacturing some really poor quality, cheap acrylic. Now I'm all for healthy competition...but not at the expense of comprimising art! Much of this wave of new acrylic are by small time Chineese manufacturers that may have let's say, less than ethical practices.

Ofcourse all the good acrylic manufacturers were there, such as Golden. But there was also another brand of acrylic there that you may not have ever heard about. This brand is called Lascaux, and they make a truely top tier quality acrylic that is largly unknown in the U.S. and Canadian market. The reason for this is because in the western markets, what is offered as top quality is often actually middle grade by European standards. This is why art conservators, savvy painters and top interior designers will often turn to European products.

One key feature to Lascaux's acrylic is that it doesn't have nearly that horrible color shift that most brands of acrylic have when they dry. When I was in color theory class in college one thing they taught was how to compensate for the notorious color shift common in acrylic paints. This isn't a concern when you go with Lascaux. Also, they manufacture the only completly non-yellowing UV protective aerosol varnish on the market! Normally, UV protective sprays (not going to name names) use an alcohol based technology which protects the paint from UV light, but instead of refracting the rays they absorp the UV light and consequently turn yellow and brittle and eventually have to be removed (and this is called archival?!?!)

Anyway, I'm going off on a tangent, my point is- If you are an Acrylic Painter, try Lascaux Artist's grade Acrylic. Painting with Lascaux is kind of like owning a Rolex in terms of quality....and how many people with Rolexes do you think will tell you they aren't satisfied?

You can find Lascaux online through The Dick Blick Catalogue, Jerry's Artarama, New York Central and if it isn't available in your local store, demand it! It's our responsibility to tell retail stores that we want quality products!

First and foremost thanks for visiting! And a big thanks to all of you who have added me to your friends list! I am honored that my work has spoken to you and I hope it brings you joy and inspiration.

I promised myself before I signed up that I would use this as a tool for showcasing my new work. But, I think I will go through my archives and post some old favorites and rarities as well. New works are well...in the works! But hey, in the mean time I'll just go ahead and post a few old things just for fun. I should probably disclose that some of my earlier work isn't as...shall I say, optimistic as this new work is...but let me know how you like it.
